Holly Jolly Christmas Cards

IMG_4796.JPG

As you may have surmised, I am an old-fashioned lady. I like wearing vintage Christmas sweaters. I like being grumpy and complaining about my health. However, the thing I like most of all is handwritten letters. One of my favorite parts of the Christmas season is getting cards from all of our friends and family. My husband hates getting newsletters, but I love those most of all. Instead of dishing gossip, these letters are full of actual news: new babies, new degrees, new jobs. I love it!

So go ahead and send me your braggiest brags. I’ll be waiting at my mailbox in anticipation while wearing my striped pajamas topped with my holly sweater vest. ūüôā

Christmas Sweater #6: Teddy Bears on the Slopes

IMG_4776.JPG

Sometimes you might feel like the world is against you. Life is hard, and you don’t know what to do. In times like these, you need to think about teddy bears freestyling on the slopes.

These guys and gals are serious about carving the powder, bro.

(P.S. I’ve never skied before. Am I using these ski terms correctly?)

Christmas Trees and TV

IMG_4746.JPG

This beautiful new throw is another birthday gift btw.

There’s nothing more I like during the holidays (or any other day) than to sit in my recliner loveseat and watch TV. The only thing better is to sit in my recliner loveseat and watch TV while wearing an embroidered and beaded Christmas tree-themed sweater. (Say that five times fast.)

This sweater has lots of neat details, including the faux buttons on the outside. Decorative buttons are a pain to unbutton, so this clever sweater has regular buttons on the inside. Brilliant!

These pajamas were also a birthday present. I’m flush with prezzies!

Well, it’s time to get back to my regularly scheduled television watching.

Please get out of my way now.

Meowy Christmas Sweater Day 1

It’s the most sweaterful time of the year! Yes, it’s back again and better that ever. It is the annual wearing of the ugly Christmas sweaters. Hooray!

I am usually against new sweaters. Christmas sweaters should be bedazzled and vintage. They should be found at garage sales and thrift stores and should smell like moth balls and grandma’s musky perfume. However, since we got Trudy last year, I figured I should get a cat sweater. So, I made an exception. I put this sweater on my Christmas wish list, and Jono’s Pops got it for me. Trudy loves it almost as much as she loves being held by me. Ha!

This weekend was my birthday, so that’s why there is a picture of me with lots of presents. I had a great time. I watched movies, put together a puzzle, made s’mores, and ate dinner with my friends. It even snowed in celebration of me. The weather can be so thoughtful sometimes. Anyway, Trudy and I have to go to bed now. We’ll be back with more sweaters tomorrow.

Christmas Velvet Vest

Today, Jono’s parents came for the holidays and got to see our house for the first time. They brought lots of presents and sweet treats. I was very excited. I couldn’t help but giving a few high kicks and shaking some gifts.

I asked my in-laws which vest I should wear over my new striped shirt today, and they both voted for this one. The buttons are a particular favorite of mine even though they are very difficult to maneuver. Family coming over just means that the big day is getting closer! Are you getting excited for Christmas?!

The 4th Day of Christmas Sweaters

Okay, technically this is a sweatshirt, but I still count it. My husband bought this sweatshirt with matching red sweatpants for my birthday back when we were dating. He now regrets it. He especially complains about the baggy sweatpants. What can I say? They are very comfortable and have pockets!

Well, I have a crazy hard Thomas Kincade puzzle and a cuppa ginger tea waiting for me, so I better go. Happy holidays!

Merry Christmas: The Christmas Sweater Finale

It’s here! The 20th Day of Christmas Sweaters is here! I know you’re all psyched for this day. Also, this day is a celebration of the birth of Jesus. As you can see, I get lots of¬†presents¬†on this day.

It’s been a pretty good year for finding amazing sweaters. Let’s take a quick¬†look back at the last few weeks:

That’s pretty awesome¬†(even if I do say so myself).¬†There are a few pictures more than twenty because I wanted to show off the details of some the sweaters. It’s been really fun celebrating the Christmas season with festive knitwear once again. Thank you all for joining me. I can’t wait to wear them all again next year.

Anyway, I hope you’re enjoying your Christmas. May God bless us, every one!

Day 19: Father Christmas and Faux Fur

image

Happy Christmas Eve! I’ve been saving a special new sweater for this day. Faux fur, pearl beads, and wooden buttons! Oh my! I’m pretty sure that the guy on my sweater is Father Christmas, but there’s an 8% chance that he is actually the Ghost of Christmas present. I’m accessorizing Father Christmas with some Christmas tree earrings I bought last spring. They were clearanced down to $3.

Definitely worth $3

I had to take this sweater off as soon as we finished taking pictures because it is 80 degrees here today. This is the hottest Christmas Eve I’ve ever had. Is it warm where you are? I love the cold, so I’m pretty bummed about this weather. I especially can’t wear my sweaters when it’s this hot! ūüė¶

Day 18: Ho, Ho, Home for the Holidays

It’s pretty close to Christmas, folks! To celebrate I’m wearing a brand new (to me) sweater with a fuzzy Santa. He makes me feel festive. He also makes me feel a little dizzy in this hot and humid weather. I did not wear him for long.

Many¬†of you are planning on going to your childhood home for the holidays. My parents retired to Arizona when I was in college, but my husband’s parents still live in the house he grew up in. He loves to go home and play video games on his favorite couch. My favorite part of going to anyone’s home for the holidays are all the Christmas goodies. I know Santa Claus would agree. I love to eat everything from cheese popcorn to chocolate covered Oreos. What are your favorite Christmas goodies?

The 17th Day of Christmas Sweaters: The Christmas Goose

Whenever we spend Christmas with the in-laws, we make sure to go see the Christmas show at The Carolina Opry. Jono and I both love music, and The Carolina Opry has amazing singers and musicians. They also have beautiful Christmas decorations.

Pretty, right? It was very¬†crowded as you can see. I didn’t take any pictures during the show because it’s annoying when the person in front of you is taking pictures during the show. (Those pictures aren’t going to turn out well! Just put your phone down, okay? Also, it’s worse when people use their¬†iPads.)

Anyway, I wore a brand new sweater today. It features a delicious Christmas goose. Okay, I have never eaten a Christmas goose. Have you? Have you ever been to The Carolina Opry? Let me know in the comments!
