Holly Jolly Christmas Cards

IMG_4796.JPG

As you may have surmised, I am an old-fashioned lady. I like wearing vintage Christmas sweaters. I like being grumpy and complaining about my health. However, the thing I like most of all is handwritten letters. One of my favorite parts of the Christmas season is getting cards from all of our friends and family. My husband hates getting newsletters, but I love those most of all. Instead of dishing gossip, these letters are full of actual news: new babies, new degrees, new jobs. I love it!

So go ahead and send me your braggiest brags. I’ll be waiting at my mailbox in anticipation while wearing my striped pajamas topped with my holly sweater vest. 🙂

Christmas Sweaters Day 4 & Christmas Nachos

image1 (2).JPG

Not everyone celebrates Christmas with jewel-toned reds and greens. In some places in the world, bright colors are used because December is a warm summer month. If you live in one of these places, I want you to know that there is a sweater for you. There’s a Christmas sweater for everyone.

To celebrate our southern friends, I made a platter of Christmas nachos for dinner. Okay, these are not really Christmas nachos made with love while thinking of others. These are delicious nachos made with only me in mind. Me, me, me. I am so selfish. I hope I’m not on the naughty list this year. Do you think Santa could be bribed with some nachos?

Christmas Trees and TV

IMG_4746.JPG

This beautiful new throw is another birthday gift btw.

There’s nothing more I like during the holidays (or any other day) than to sit in my recliner loveseat and watch TV. The only thing better is to sit in my recliner loveseat and watch TV while wearing an embroidered and beaded Christmas tree-themed sweater. (Say that five times fast.)

This sweater has lots of neat details, including the faux buttons on the outside. Decorative buttons are a pain to unbutton, so this clever sweater has regular buttons on the inside. Brilliant!

These pajamas were also a birthday present. I’m flush with prezzies!

Well, it’s time to get back to my regularly scheduled television watching.

Please get out of my way now.

In Memoriam of Our Mini Snowman

IMG_0270

It was much warmer today, and I was disheartened to see all of the friendly neighborhood snowmen melting away. Jono and I made a miniature snowman this Saturday, but there’s not much left of him now.

IMG_4678.JPG

In honor of our evaporating friends, I decided to wear a snowman sweater today.

Today we went to Krispy Kreme to get their limited edition gingerbread donuts. If you are reading this on December 13, then you’re too late! You can’t have any. They’re here for one day only. Ahhhh!!!!

In your face, losers who didn’t get gingerbread donuts.

Another calorie-laden thing happened today as well. The ladies at my church gave me a small birthday party. They bought two cakes: one to eat at the church and one to take home. I’m very spoiled.

Did you know that Christmas sweaters are good at hiding holiday weight? 😉

Meowy Christmas Sweater Day 1

It’s the most sweaterful time of the year! Yes, it’s back again and better that ever. It is the annual wearing of the ugly Christmas sweaters. Hooray!

I am usually against new sweaters. Christmas sweaters should be bedazzled and vintage. They should be found at garage sales and thrift stores and should smell like moth balls and grandma’s musky perfume. However, since we got Trudy last year, I figured I should get a cat sweater. So, I made an exception. I put this sweater on my Christmas wish list, and Jono’s Pops got it for me. Trudy loves it almost as much as she loves being held by me. Ha!

This weekend was my birthday, so that’s why there is a picture of me with lots of presents. I had a great time. I watched movies, put together a puzzle, made s’mores, and ate dinner with my friends. It even snowed in celebration of me. The weather can be so thoughtful sometimes. Anyway, Trudy and I have to go to bed now. We’ll be back with more sweaters tomorrow.

The 7th Day of Christmas Sweaters

I have something special to share with you. It’s my Christmas sweater stash. Once winter has ended, I gently tuck my sweaters in for a warm weather hibernation. These are my sweater storage boxes.

Now you know the secret behind the magic!

The 4th Day of Christmas Sweaters

Okay, technically this is a sweatshirt, but I still count it. My husband bought this sweatshirt with matching red sweatpants for my birthday back when we were dating. He now regrets it. He especially complains about the baggy sweatpants. What can I say? They are very comfortable and have pockets!

Well, I have a crazy hard Thomas Kincade puzzle and a cuppa ginger tea waiting for me, so I better go. Happy holidays!

The ___ Days of Christmas Sweaters

It’s after midnight, but I’m up blogging because I’m a little behind on my Christmas sweater posts. I have a few excuses though. First of all, I don’t even know how many sweaters I have this year because I haven’t unpacked them all yet. Second, I’ve had a little problem with renewing my driver’s license. Apparently, my state birth certificate is not proof of my citizenship anymore because I’m adopted. Ugh. Anyway, I mostly have it straightened out now, but it is a lot of legal jargon to wade through (and the people at the DMV are not only unhelpful but also irksome as they have been making up laws that don’t exist). Anyway, here are two Christmas sweaters.

I can testify to how comfy it is to have a fur collar on your sweater in the winter. Who needs a scarf when your sweater is already keeping your neck warm for you. Think of how haughty you can be when you see people wearing two garments when they could be only wearing one!

You can tell I’m ready for bed in this picture. Also, my lips are zombie-colored from the lip cream I got in my advent calendar. However, I wanted you to see our new cat! Her name is Trudy. The animal shelter said that she was three, so we thought we were bringing home a mellow and mature cat. We were wrong. The vet said that Trudy is probably around one year old, and Trudy started acting like a kitten as soon as she stopped taking her antibiotics. I thought we had trained her to stay off the counter tops, but I have already caught her back on them again twice today. Thus far she hasn’t ruined anything or eaten any of our people food, so I think we are doing a good job of training of her. Anyway, I hope you’re enjoying your December! Trudy and I both say goodnight!

The First Day of Christmas Sweaters 2016

I’m getting a late start on my Christmas sweaters because we just moved. It took a while to dig out all of my winter clothing, and it was really hard to get motivated in November when it still felt like summer here in the south. However, December is here, and I am officially another year older. A new house and a birthday call for a new sweater, right?

Teddy bears skiing? Um, yes, please! I could not pass this sweet sweater up when I saw it in the toasty, warm months of summer.

Here’s the back:

I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t done my nails in weeks. You guys all know how serious that is! However, these pictures are really making me regret not having matching teddy bear nails. Well, there’s always next year! What will I wear tomorrow? Not even I know that!
