I Want a Snoopy Sweater for Christmas, Charlie Brown!

IMG_2201.JPG

Exactly one year ago, I started the 12 Days of Christmas Sweaters 2014 with this same sweater. I just happened to wear it today because we had plans tonight to watch “I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown!” (Seriously, I should get a kickback from ABC for all the free advertisement I give them.)

If you are a frequent visitor of lifeintheme, then you know that I am a big fan of Peanuts. Snoopy and the gang remind of watching TV as a little kid with my younger brother. So of course I went to see the new Peanuts movie when it came out.

I thought the movie was very well done. I was uneasy about the computer animation, but they really tried to keep the same tone as the other Peanuts movies.

It was also very well marketed. Peanuts was everywhere, and I bought it all! Okay, I didn’t buy the expensive Peanuts Coach purses. I did buy the Peanuts nail polish and Happy Meals though. Also, it is very fun to Peanutize yourself.

What do you think? Does it look like me?

Mani Monday & Nine Ladies Dancing

day 9.2.JPG

It’s the 9th Day of Christmas Sweaters, and I just so happened to go dancing! This is a picture of me outside the studio. I gave Jono the gift of dancing lessons for our anniversary this year, so we went to a group lesson tonight. This may seem like a selfish present, but don’t be fooled by stereotypes. I am not the dancer in this marriage. Also, I had to dance with many strangers who had sweaty hands. Yuck.

Those guys were lucky to hold my well-manicured hands. This beautiful Mani Monday color is Chita by Zoya. I didn’t notice the label called it a “Pixie Dust” until after I painted my nails. It is a textured glitter, but it is not thick and goopy. Also, it was beautiful after one coat. I tried a second coat on my pinky, but I really couldn’t see much of a difference.

Sorry I couldn’t get any pictures of us dancing. It would’ve disrupted the lesson. It was really fun, and I can’t wait to go to our next lesson. Have you guys ever taken dancing lessons?

Day 8 & Weekend Watched List

Here I am stylishly enjoying some good movies.

During the holidays, Jono and I try to watch as many Christmasy movies as we possibly can. I love classic films, so Jono surprised me this weekend by renting Christmas in Connecticut (1945). We really liked Christmas in Connecticut, but I’m going to save a full review of it for after we watch the remake.

Christmas in Connecticut came with a special bonus, the short film Star in the Night. While Christmas in Connecticut was an enjoyable movie, it was not as well made as this little gem in the DVD’s special features. I happened to marvel at the brisk pacing for an older film at the same time Jono, a film editor himself, remarked upon the cutting edge editing techniques which seem quite modern for a classic.

Of course this piqued my interest, so I did a little Internet sleuthing about the movie. Star in the Night was made in 1945 and won an Academy Award. It was directed by Don Siegel, the director of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Dirty Harry. Don Siegel was formerly an editor, and it’s clear from the filmography of Star in the Night’s credited editor that Don Siegel was the mastermind behind the cuts.

I think that we may add Star in the Night to our regular Christmas rotation. What about you? What are your favorite Christmas movies? Did you watch any this weekend? And, more importantly, did you watch them while wearing a Christmas sweater and fuzzy socks?

Day 7: Christmas in 1995

I don’t usually pay much attention to the tags in my Christmas sweaters. However, this one caught my eye today. This knitwear confection was made in 1995! This seems appropriate given today’s sweater picture.

I voraciously ate some food last night without thought to my food sensitivities. (They tend to be more violent after an illness.) Since I’m feeling unwell and my picture from Day 1 with my face covered seemed to worry people, I decided to have a guest sweater wearer instead. My husband insisted he wear his “Michael Jackson sunglasses.” I insisted that he wear this sweater because the boy looks like him. Both of us insisted on not wearing a sweater all day because it has been in the seventies all day. 😦 This is not good Christmas weather in my book. Anyway, much thanks to Jono for being my substitute.

Day 6: The Wearing of the Birthday Gifts

I’m feeling almost 100% today, so I guess it’s back to work for me. I would probably have post-birthday blues if I didn’t have so many awesome gifts to wear. I took a picture of my candy purse yesterday, and today I am wearing a brand new sweater from my mother-in-law and leggings from some awesome friends. (I’m pretty loved.)

The front of my new sweater features Christmas trees made out of pieces of ribbon. The back has an awesome tree formation made from snowmen, trees, and a present as the trunk. This is one detailed sweater.

Since I’ve been loopy on cold medicine for a while now, I have to get back to work. Also, our bags are still unpacked from Thanksgiving. Should I just leave them packed for Christmas? What do you think? Let me know in the comments!

The Fifth Day of Sweaters/My Birthday

Look at this cute candy-shaped purse!

I’m wearing a sweater Jono surprised me with when I first got sick. He said he bought it to help me feel better. It has a faux fur collar and some glorious beading that really can’t be captured by my iPhone.

As you can see, I’m pretty busy opening prezzies right now. I’ll see you tomorrow for Day 6 of The 20 Days of Christmas Sweaters. I may have gotten some amazing knitwear for my birthday, so be prepared!

The Fourth Day of Christmas Sweaters

Day 4

Over the years, many people have asked me why I don’t do 25 days of Christmas sweaters. The answer is simple. I did not want the wearing of Christmas sweaters to overshadow my birthday. However, I was overzealous this year and accidentally ended up with too many sweaters. Thus, I will be wearing a Christmas sweater on my birthday tomorrow. Since we don’t have any plans to go anywhere fancy tomorrow, I don’t mind too much.

I’m singing a beautiful aria in my mezzo soprano voice. Just kidding. My voice currently sounds like an old man who chain smokes.

Jono has been busy wrapping all of the presents that I have been sent in the mail and putting them underneath our tiny tree. I’m pretty psyched to open them tomorrow! Happy birthday eve to me!

Santa Claws

Teddy SweaterIt is the third day of the 20 Days of Christmas Sweaters! I left the cocoon of sickness and bone broth to go to the mall in search of treasures. While I was there, a bird landed in my hand in Macy’s. It was a magical moment.

Teddy Sweater 2

This knitted masterpiece was found by my husband. A teddy bear wearing a Santa hat and holding a candy cane is pretty much the epitome of Christmas spirit. This is the first of my brand new sweaters. What do you think of it? Let me know in the comments.

Mani Monday and Snowmen

image

It’s Mani Monday and also the second day of the 20 Days of Christmas Sweaters. My nails are wearing OPI’s Smitten in Mittens, a darkly beautiful red glass fleck polish. The rest of me is wearing striped flannels and snowmen.

I’m feeling a little better, but I’m not 100%. Our apartment complex had Santa Claus come for photos today, but I wasn’t feeling up to greeting him. I’m trying not to feel too disappointed. 😉 I’m saving my newer sweaters for when I feel better because they are quite dramatic. Look forward to it!

The Beginning

Today is the first day of the wearing of the Christmas sweaters. You may be asking why I am starting so early this year. The answer, good friend, is that my storehouse of sweaters has a surplus this year. Thus, I will be celebrating the 20 Days of Christmas Sweaters.

I caught a bug during our Thanksgiving travels and cannot seem to shake it. Therefore, I am keeping you from the horrible sight of my greenish face. Also, forgive my short post. I hope to feel better tomorrow and show my Christmasy spirit to the fullest extent. Let me know if you’re also wearing a Christmas sweater in the comments.
